I cant speak for female, but im a 20 year old male and have been going to Barcelona regularly many times on my own for the past 3 years.
I have never once felt unsafe, or in danger but to be honest ive never had to wander off on my own too far out into neighbourhoods etc. so all i can say to you is, just be sensible, and so long as you stick to the well populated areas, you will be 100% fine ;-)
Have a great time!! |

I am told that one should probably not be walking around too much after dark alone...with a friend, of course, you are safer, but you are probably better off at around midnight and later taking a cab.
More than anything, you want to be aware of your valuables.
Your biggest fear should NOT be for your person...personal crimes are few, but for your camera, cell phone, credit cards, purse, and passport. Pickpockets are the biggest thing to fear, and they will get you if you aren't paying attention, the more crowded the area, the more danger.
(of course, you want to keep your person safe, too...just use common sense, and don't go tripping around falling down drunk at four in the morning...the night before we arrived, a young woman was mugged doing just that, so our landlord told us.) |

It depends on the zone that you are in. There are more unsafe places like El Raval but in general I feel safe in Barcelona. The metro is until 12 am during the week and 2 am Friday and all night long in Saturday.
Enjoy your stay |

Barcelona is a city full of people from everywhere. The city also has issues with ETA. It may be reasonably safe but I don't really recommend going anywhere in Europe alone at night for a female. Always have someone with you when traveling in a foreign country. If you don't speak Spanish, or know where to stay away from having someone with you can really help. |

I felt very safe in Barcelona at night. I rode the metro at night around 1 and 2 am and never had a problem. Just don't look scared is what I can say. |
