How to find a flat in Spain? |
Hi, I'm moving to Spain (Galicia) for 12 weeks next summer (with option to stay longer) and I need to find somewhere to live. Can you arrange in advance with an estate agent to take a flat without viewing it? Also is it possible to get a flat with a 12 week tenancy? |

Sure. Pretty much anything is possible, if you are willing to pay for it.
In truth, you should be able to get a flat for a reasonable amount for that kind of stay.
Here's one way: just search the city/town where you want to live. When you pull up any page on that town, there will be ads all over the page for lodging...click on one, and then go into apartments/pisos/flats (any of those), then look for a section that lists long-term (monthly rate) apartments, and check for availability.
Going through an estate agent, you can tell them personally what it is that you are looking for, and then they will do the legwork, and find you a selection that fits your needs. Then find take care of all the paperwork.
In many places, there are agents who are fluent in English, and many probably can speak to you in terms that will make sense to you (legal terms, that is), so you can make contracts that you will understand.
Good luck. You'll possibly find more such agents in a big city, though I would rather live in a smaller town....more likely to be able to truly immerse in the culture/language.
