Hi we want to go from Spain (not far from Malaga) to Morrocco for a day trip but would consider staying one night. We have four children, youngest is a baby so want to do it as easily as possible but really want to see a bit of Morrocco! Our hire car won't allow us to take it out of Spain so we will be carless. Any hints or ideas? Thank you
We found a hotel in Algeciras (I believe it was Hotel Octavio) that has a package to take you to Morocco. I think the deal was to spend the night and the next morning you'd take a ferry to Morocco and back - and it even includes food. It was something around 60 euro for the ferry package (doesn't include hotel stay). I think their email address was hoteloctavio@hotmail.es, you can email them to get more info and a price.

You can get a guided bus tour for various Moroccon cities through most spanish travel agencies. (But it is usually a week)
Then there is a package deal for a weekend in Tangiers at the following website:

If you only want a "day trip" or an overnight stay, definitely drive to Algeciras and take one of the ferries across the straits of Gibraltar. Then take a taxi for the day, they aren't that expensive. (the ferry to Tangiers goes from both Algeciras and Tarifa).
Make sure if you stay overnight to have made a reservation in advance.

check out boat routes and then hire a taxi type operation in Morocco

Thru Algeciras. You take a boat there and go to Ceuta. Ceuta is on North Africa, but is Spanish.

The Boat is your best pick to get to Morroco from Spain easily.
Carousel
Ferry from Algiceras to Tangiers. Once there it would be best to get a taxi to your hotel.
There is something else to consider. How about the Spanish colony of Melilla which is connected to Morrocco. You can visit that city and go over the border into Morrocco. You can fly from Málaga to Melilla. It's just a short 40 minute flight.
