Lost. at. Sea.
Barcelona is one of my favorite cities.
The best way to see the major attractions of the city is the Touristic buses that departs from Plaza Cataluña. The Red and Blue lines take you to the major attractions like La Sagrada Familia, Parque Guell, La Pedrera, the Barrio Gotico, La Rambla, Montduic, The Olympic City, the Soccer Stadium, the water front , etc. Spend 2 days using the buses. If you like Museums take a day for the Contemporary Arts and the Miro institute. If you are traveling in summer enjoy the beach in Barcelona or take a train to the north to the beaches in the Costa Brava. Don't miss the excursion on the cremallera train to the Tibidabo historical amusement park in the top of a mountain with the best view of the city. If you like shopping go to La Diagonal.
Huh....a lot to see in Barcelona.
The food and the night life is excellent.
As many cities in Europe check your wallet but in my experience is by far more safe than the majority of the US cities.

If you plan on going some time soon and you want to do some real fun, different stuff, check out http://www.lifestylebarcelona.com/ they do anything from parachute jumps to wine tastings.

If you just want some chill time and to take in the surrounding countryside which is beautiful checkout http://www.rabbies.eu.com/

That pretty much has you covered for activities, now don´t forget to checkout the Tour bus, there are only two routes, have a looka the Sagrada familiar, the Gaudi buildings, but also try and get to the areas where the locals hang out... Gracia and the borne for eg.

Hope it helps

Good Luck

First rule: Keep your eye on your wallet or purse at all times. Preferably, I would wear a money belt. The dirty bastards pick-pocketed my wife on the METRO.

Second: I would take one of the tour buses that give an entire tour of the city. This way you will be able to get on and off at various locations and spend as much time as you want. You will want to see the Gaudy (sp) architecture.

Third: Spend at least one or two days at the beach.

Fourth: Keep your eye on your wallet again!

Buena Suerte!
