How well will my TEXMEX be understood in Spain?

If you learned Spanglish growing up, you will have certain words that you use that won't be understood in Spain, but luckily, the Spanish are so encouraging when you try to speak the language, they will sit there and try to understand what you are saying. Every now and then you will meet a snob (as you would in any country) but for the most part, you will not have a problem. Gestures, a smile and enthusiasm for communicating go a long way.
I have lived in Spain, been married to a Spaniard for 20 years and travel there every summer. Even when my parents (who know very little Spanish) traveled with us there last year, they were treated warmly and people understood because they wanted to understand. Their accents and pronunciation were much worse than yours, I am quite sure. Hey, don't worry. You will do fine and have lots of fun! Enjoy!

I can't even understand your explanation, I lived in Venezuela either and you know that Spanish is just the same in every country spoken. The differences are the slangs and sounds and accents of word. If you say in Vzla. "Vamos a beber", Let's drink, In Spain is "Vamos de Copas". and you get it. A boy or man in Spain is "Tio" what really means Uncle, but the comprehension of the talk you will be able to understand and they will too. as in English, Just relax. In Venezuela I think they understood you but they are jokers by nature, when you pronounce a wrong word, they make a joke of it, They are Echadores de Bromas. This expression only heard in Venezuela but Everyone who speaks spanish knows the meaning.

I too have found the same problem...dialects change almost from town to town in Mexico. My Texmex isn't understood either. The Spanish spoken in Spain is quite different from that spoken in Mexico. However with time I have found that even Texmex can be understood in most areas of Mexico. As for Texan...yeah I have the same problem there too...fluent Texan isn't understood too well outside of Texas. I am Texan but now live in Canada...naow if ya'll don't thienk that don't raise the hair on the back of a jackalope thienk a-gain....eh!

My (v.weak) European Spanish held up in Guatemala and Mexico (as well as spain). My English was usually understood in Texas :-). You will be fine.

My Spanish teacher said the dialects and some vocabs are different.
