Yes. As citizen of the Dominican Rep. you need a visa to enter Spain. In your case (visiting your father), you need to apply for a "Schengen Tourist Visa" which will also allow you to enter several other european countries without needing any other visas. You can stay in Spain or other countries of the Schengen Area for a maximum of 90 days, all together. I recommend you to go to your nearest Sapnish Consulate.

Here is an interesting link of the Spanish Consulate in N.Y, regarding visas.

Just click on "visados/visas".

And check out this other link to see where's your nearest Sp. Consulate.

all depends of your citizenship (the fact that you are a green card holder does not say much that you are not US)
anyway, if your father is living here in Spain, and assuming you are not European, he may write a invitation letter : having the green card may help in getting the visa, as it shows you are regularly living in the US, therefore not willing to stay in Europe, only visiting.
But anyway, it mostly depends of your citizenship.

You mean you live in the US, legally, and you need to go to Spain? If you are legal, here, then traveling outside the US should be perfectly fine. What you need to travel depends on your passport. Obviously, re entering the US should be no problem with your papers.

This map shows the status of the different countries with regards to the EU.

Red places need a visa to enter the EU...check with the Spanish Embassy/consulate closest to you.

your status in the US is completely irrelevant unless your a citizen.
depends on what country your a citizen of.

I think you're allowed to stay inside Spain for 90 day's with No Visa... but you can't work as your not from the EU
