It is the best place ever. I did exchange there from Australia in 2002. Had an absolutely awesome time. The Universidad de Salamanca attracts students on exchange etc from all over the world so there is heaps of things to do and heaps of people to meet. I loved it and am going back there as part of a holiday to Spain this year.

Salamanca is wondeful. Full of monuments and in walking distance. Great night life. The 2 universities make one of the best places in Spain to learn Spanish.
