I'm thiniking of moving to Spain, but just dont know what city. Any ideas?

I'm in need of a change! I'm looking for a city that is not to party crazy, family oriented and near the South, close to NOrth Africa. Any ideas? I'm looking for a job in the healthcare medical field.

I live on the Costa del Sol and I don't party and neither do most of my friends. People who know nothing about the area assume it is a wild place, which is not correct. I must ask, why must it be near North Africa. There are many beautiful places in Spain to consider.

As for getting employment here, any jobs will go to the Spanish people because there are so many unemployed. If you are a doctor or higher then possibly you could get a job, but things are not good here right now.

I'm afraid this is not the best moment... With the world financial crisis affecting every country. There is an enormous amount of unemployment in Spain at this time, and it is presumably going to rise even more during 2009.
However if you insist on the change, I would suggest you check english language newspapers. There are several in Spain such as SUR in english (Malaga newspaper, has its own website) to see if there are any jobs available in your field, and in what parts of southern Spain you might find them..

Good luck!

MALAGA is the best option:
Big enough but quiet enough and you can take a Ferry to Africa.

Zaragoza, city made to measure, almost exactly at the same distance from Madrid and Barcelona (3 hours by driving). It is well equipped, with a lot of services, facilities. It also have a beautiful Old town. People are very friendly. Looking for a job? It would be difficult at the moment in every place in Spain, but with a little luck... bUT IT is not on the South.

Murcia is an inland city on a coastal province, but although it is an university town and a very lively place with vibrant nightlife, it is a very family-oriented city too. It would be a good choice as well. Is not close close to Africa, but is not far either.

if your from England, then why don't you move to Gibraltar ??

I'm guessing jobs are difficult to come by.

I'd make sure I could get one before making any sorts of plans.

NOT party crazy? well, stay away from the Costa del Sol...not really party crazy, from what I have heard, just lots of old men drinking until they are blind drunk...not a very family atmosphere...live among the locals, and you are in a better position. Find a smaller town, not tourist oriented, away from the coast, and you'll do better. Maybe Jerez de la Frontera, or somewhere along the Ruta de los Pueblos Blancos?
Antequera has a pretty decent reputation....I think the British folks who live there are more quiet than along the coast...just what I have heard.
