In general the people of Spain are lovely people. However, their country is being taken over by other Europeans, mainly the British. They have no real problem with that but they do want them to learn the language and integrate into society. I have done that to the extent I now pay my taxes in Spain. Many Brits coming here have no intention of integrating or learning the language. This can cause resentment in some quarters. Invariably non speaking Spanish people can be charged more in cafés and bars. It´s pretty much the same as any country. Immigrants should learn the language and integrate into their new country.
I live in a rural area where I have Spanish neighbours. They know I´m new at the language and they really try to help me get the pronunciation right. It's great fun and laughter all round sometimes. All my Spanish neighbours are wonderful and I wouldn´t want to live anywhere else now but in Spain.

I love Spain! Almeria and Barcelona are lovely. I do like the Spanish but, it is a bit difficult to meet them when traveling over there. The Spanish people are very friendly when they visit the UK. My Spanish sister-in -law is absolutely fantastic and so are my niece and nephew.

have lived in spain for 11 years. and love it here and love most of the people too. but where ever you go in the world there are always disadvantages...nowhere is perfect. ...all i know is that i would still rather be here than in england.

For my fellow americans. Are you listening to yourselves? Is it "do as I say no as I do" all the time? You (some of you) keep telling people that come to america that they have to speak English but when you go to another country you still expect everybody to talk to you in English. What's up with that.

Spain: best wine, best olives, best olive oil, jamón pata negra rocks, Notre dame cathedral doesn't hold a candle to any of the gothic cathedrals in Spain, it's a fun place to be. I have been three times, I think, to several parts of Spain.
Spaniards are great people, they seem to have a sort of hard exterior to foreigners.

One of my goals for the year is to learn to cook tappas and try some of the olive oils and wines out of Spain.

I personally love Spain - so far I have only visited Barcelona, the Costa de la Luz and Mallorca but they are all lovely.

I have found the Spanish wonderful - sometimes they can be a bit abrupt in Mallorca as I try to speak Spanish to them and can't speak Mallorquian but that is only the minority. The people on the Costa de la Luz are really nice - not met a rude one yet.

I suppose it is like anywhere - 90% of the people are fantastic and lovely and 10% aren't.

I don't judge people I don't know but I have heard people in spain are very rude to people who do not speak spanish

I'm afraid the wife must have done something to offend people. I have never found people in Spain to be rude to foreigners.

My husband, who doesn't speak Spanish, encountered no such problems.

I was never in Spain before I could speak, but I struggled pretty hard for the first two months or so when I first arrived, to actually communicate, and people were extremely friendly and helpful in my struggles.

Personally, I spent all my life studying Spanish and Spain, and it continues to be one of the focuses of my world. I love Spain, and spent many years trying to work out how to go back to visit, and finally did so last Spring. It was a HUGE highlight of my life. Can't wait to go back.
