Walk around the old part of town but make sure that the shops are open. Walk up the Ramblas and go into the market.

Have lunch somewhere nice and expensive.

Go up Tibidabo by the blue tram.

There is a good tapas place on the corner of Mallorca and Rambla Catalunya. (Cerveceria something).

Buy a good guide book and plan what you want to see.
Raid the tourist office at the airport.

Molt be! (be sounds like bay in Catalon) I lived in Catalunya for 2 years and LOVED EVERY MINUTE of it! There is so much you can do! I will also add that Barcelona is a very safe city to be out in! Go down to the Port de Olimpic! It is one good party there. You will meet tons of people from other countries in that area. Make some friends and jump on the train up to the mountains! You can stop in Ribas de Freser (where I lived right up the road from in a village called Ventola great little restuarant there to!) and you can take another train up to Vall de Nuria from the town it is a beautiful ride up the mountian! After you get back go up to Puigcerda farther up the line it is a small city that boarders France and has some cool stuff to see not of the normal touristy itinerary! If you can get up to Andorra it is only about an hour drive from there and is loaded with stores and a great place to relax Caldea Spa! it is cheap and you will love it! Now I don't know how long you will be there but you can also head north up the coast and hit the beautiful beachs there (always the top ranked beachs of Europe!) Lloret Del Mar (it is a bit touristy but nice and there is many more more secluded beachs up the coast! If you like Salvador Dali you can go to Cadaques where he was from and has a great museum of his work there plus you can go and have some wine on his property and even camp there if they still let you! LOL But that area is second to none in Europe and even the Europeans will tell you Barcelona is the best city over there! Have a Blast I wish I was still there! Bon Dia! (Catalon for good day)

Explore the city's sights by day including Gaudi's masterpiece, the unfinished Sagrada Família Cathedral, and Parc Güell in the north. Or maybe visit the 98,000 seater Nou Camp stadium the home of Barcelona football club. See http://www.spain4uk.co.uk/places/barcelona.htm for more details

Leopold Bloom
The Sagrada Familia, otherwise known as the cathedral, it's absolutly amazing as long as you're both ok with heights... see link for detail

Walk Las ramblas/but not with real intent.

You should see the Gaudi cathedral and other buildings designed by this unique architect. You should visit the Miro gallery on Montjuct - also the Olympic Stadium is up there and there is a cable car.

Brilliant city probably my favourite. Theres so much to see/do a good way to cover a lot of it is going to catalonia sq (top of les rambles) in the morning and pay for the orange bus. It takes you round the city and most of its interest points where you can get off and visit. The buses are very frequent so your not left hanging about bus stops all day. It cost about 20 euros but is valid all day plus they give you a city map etc ... enjoy it mate great place

There's loads to do.......
Do the 2 day hop on hop off bus tour. This takes you around the whole city and you can go see the things you want.

Sagrada Familia (the weird cathedral) Is awesome to both loook at and go up inside.

Park Guell is cool and theres loads to see and explore there.

The Neu Camp for a tour is amasing - if you're into football! We even saw the captain practising there!

Take a stroll around the Bari Gotic area of the city. There's cool old buildings there and some cool bars and restaurants.

Definately take the tour you see so much and its well cheap.

The Barcelona fountains at night - the lights in the fountains are set to the beat/rythym of the music and can be very spectacular!

Along with the other suggestions (Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell etc.) check out the excellent views from Tibidabo. You can climb to the top of the church and stand at Jesus' feet. Great views of the city also at Montjuic. Check out cool bars in the Born and Raval (La Rambla can be pretty naff and expensive.) Visit Casa Batello and La Pedrera for more of Gaudi's work. The fountain in Plaza Espanya is also a must but check out the time that it's on first. Have fun!

You should definitely see a bullfight ... blood, guts and gore. It is quite a spectacle ... the locals really get into. They are as entertaining as the action in the ring.
