Hi! There many things to do here,it depends on what sort of thing you want to see. There's the touristic stuff such as the Ramblas, Port Olimpic or all the Gaudi architecture (Sagrada familia, Park Güell...not to miss). I find very romantic Mirablau at night. It's a bar-club above the city, in Tibidabo (it's easy to get there, taxi or funicular). If you're willing to spend money go to Hotel Arts restaurant or the one in Montjuic (you get there by the funicular). Have fun and congratulations!

My husband and I went to Barcelona 5 years ago. We went to a restaraunt named La Dama, pretty expensive, but worth it. It's in a beatiful 19th century builing, Address 423 Diagonal phone: 932020686. There are also some great tapas places, that are fun and good Spanish wines such as:Bar Turro, Rey De La Gamba, and La Jarra. Barcelona . They are all accessible from the middle of town.

Spend a lot of time in your room with your new husband.

First of all, contact the turism office on arrival. They will give you more than you expect. There are sightseein buslines, which bring you to all point of interest in Barcelona. You can hop off/hop on at every stop to do your personal sightseeing.
Check in advance www.barcelona.es, available also in english. those pages give you more information than you can remember.
For the outskirts: take the train to the monastery of Montserrat (last part by a RR climbing up the mountain). I think the departure station is at Plaça Espanya. In the hotel they can tell you, where exactely it is.
or: take the train to Sitges, a small town 30 minutes south of Barcelona, seaside resort, lovely old town center.
Call the Spanish Turist Office and they will send you some brochures.
Bienvenidos a España!

there's plenty to see and do and you'll have a fantastic time. Picasso's museum, gaudi works, the gothic quarter etc there's also lots of resaurants, cafes and bars to relax in if the sight seeing gets too much. There are also plenty of romantic places to stay including the Casa Camper hotel http://www.camper.com which near to Las Ramblas or if you want to stay in an apartment, try out http://www.holiday-velvet.com/barcelona

I went to Barcelona twice and loved most of what the other folks are recommending. Stay near the Ramblas because that is the centre of the action. I loved seeing the Football stadium and retail store...and drinking a beer or two there! There is a big shopping center near the Barcelona Princess hotel. A tram will get you there from the underground/subway! There is also a zoo out there. Many bus tours that show you the entire city and you can choose where to get on and off. Take the bus tour that has the three options, red, blue and green routes I believe!
