Well, it depends on what kind of information. If you are looking for imediate cultural info then check the web! if not, then check barnes and nobles, they have tons of city guides, books on events, and people of Madrid!

For travel? dino dino gave you madridman. That's a terrific site! American who lives in Spain and gives all sorts of info...forums, email, etc.
Also: sispain.com....another really good site for orienting yourself.
