I don't have a credit card in my name and there are no other adults travelling with me. Transfers are by taxi only and they are trying to charge me a fortune for it. Does anyone know of a cheap car hire place that will allow me to hire a car without a credit card??
you can get a hire car from small independent shops in most of the main resorts, definitely in magaluf. They are small family businesses and some of them might be able to sort out som way of leaving a deposit without a credit card. You can't book them in advanca onthe net though, you have to go in person. From the airport you don't need a taxi, the bus systemin majorca is first rate and cheap.

Most places will want credit card in case you run off (drive off?) in their car. Or crash the car and don't settle the excess.
Are you sure it is not cheaper by taxi - Majorca is not a huge island. By the time you add up parking, etc, it may still be cheaper,

go on thehertz website or call there european operations telephone number they will book you a car in advance , you could pay cash up front or on arrival
