It depends how long your trip will be:
1. Barcelona
2. Madrid
3. Seville and Granada

Enjoy your trip!

Definately Madrid ,Sevilla, Granada and Barcelona. IF you go to barcelona defnately go to Las Sagrada Familia a catherdral estimated to be completed arounf the yr 2019-2020. Also if you wanna add some excitement take a ferry from Barcelona to Maorroco, Africa!!

Of all places in Spain, I have only been to Barcelona.

It is a great place to explore for you will see many friendly and helpful locals. The fact that the cost of living is not high helps to stretch the dollars a bit further.

Great food, great nightlifes.

I'd spend only one night in Madrid. Really cool tapas bars in the old town, very fun to wander around.
It all depends if you're into history or the club scene too.
Barcelona is awesome, great fun and a modern city with historic sites, truly the the most happening city in Spain.
I loved my trip to the Andalusia region though. Seville, Grenada, Cordoba, Ronda, rented a car and drove throught the white towns and down to the Mediterrainean Sea. We also went to Cadiz also which isn't mentioned much but a really fun seaside town with a nice old town with restaurants and shopping. Try to stay at Paradors (google Paradors of Spain) for great places to stay too.
Have fun!

Those places above are good for sure, but don't miss the Costa del Sol in the south. Why miss the Med and the beaches? What time of year are you going? The Costa del Sol is famous for great weather in the summer from June to September with almost no rain to spoil your time. Drive along the coast and see many little fishing villages and cities all the way to the Rock of Gibraltar. From there you can also book a day trip into Africa and see Morocco.
