I will be visiting Marbella, Spain in Nov. 2008. Where is the closest professional soccer (futbol) team?

What is the closest La Liga team to Marbella? Are there any other professional level soccer (futbol) teams that are not La Liga?

Málaga club de futbol. They play in division 2 of La Liga. They currently lead their division. Málaga play at La Rosaleda stadium. I know where it is and how to drive there, but if you aren´t used to driving in Spain your best way might be to go to Fuengirola, catch the train to Málaga and then catch a bus.
Hopefully when you are here later in the year, Málaga may be playing in La Liga 1 and if you are lucky you may get to see them play Real Madrid or Barça. If either of those sides are playing Málaga the roads will all get blocked up.

Edit; There are other teams a little further in the opposite direction. In La Liga 2 you have CadĂz, Xerez and Athletic Sevilla. In La Liga 1 you have Sevilla & Real Betis in Sevilla and Recreativo in Huelva.

Pompal '09.
The nearest La Liga team to Marbella will be Malaga F.C. Although currently a Division 2 team, they are leading the table, at present, and stand a very good chance of being in the top division, in November, 2008. The distance from Malaga to Marbella is about 52 kms (32 miles).
After Malaga, possibly Seville would be the next nearest La Liga team to Marbella.

There's no such thing as a professional football team, they are all hooligans
