You can take a high speed Catamaran from Tarifa, Algeciras and Gibraltar to Tangier in Morocco. Yes, you will have to pay for the ferry crossing. Here is a link that explains how to get to Morocco by ferry or by plane. Temperatures in December can range from 5 degrees Celsius to 20 degrees Celsius.

Yes, by ferry from Algeciras to Ceuta, and then from Ceuta to Morroco by car.

Catamarans sail across the Staits of Gibraltar from Spain to Morocco daily. They are well advertised and relatively cheap.

Diana
by aeroplane

Yes... I've never been into Morocco but to our Sovrign Cities =) you can also get the boat from Almería =)

I wouldn't say they are anything to visit though if it's going to cost you a lot more

I suggest getting a cheap flight from Barcelona to Malaga (or Seville, or Granada, and then travel around from there) as you'll save a load of time travelling. See vueling.com, clickair.com and even sometimes Spanair have offers on, especially at that time of year.
With regards Morocco - I have nothing to add to the other guys' posts - that's great information.

Temeperatures. Barcelona will be mild - cooler on an evening but I doubt it would rain. The South of spain enjoys great weather, and Malaga will be like a spring day in UK for example. Morocco, i'm not sure, but it's just above the Sahara Desert, so I imagine will be great - but there may be the odd storm? I'm guessing as I've never been.

There's a ferry from someplace just east of Gibraltar that goes to Tangiers. You will have to pay for the ferry, but I can't imagine why you would have to pay more to cross a border??? You don't generally pay anything to cross borders.

Or, if you weren't going to Málaga, you could just fly there, I'm sure, from Barcelona. Just search flights.

Here: tons of them, even from Barcelona, but that will probably take a long time. http://www.cemar.it/dest/ferries_morocco.htm

Richard
You need to go by ferry, boat or air, unless you are a very good swimmer. Morrocco is in North Africa and Spain of course is part of Europe, a diffrent continent. Across the straights of Gibraltar.
