Im 71years old can i still be able to drive a car in spain?

Yes you should be fine. With a Spanish licence you can drive your car until you are 79. After that you will need to apply each year for a replacement. With a UK licence the same will apply but I donĀ´t know what the age is. As for the laws in Spain. They are changing all the time. YouĀ´d need to be a lawyer to work them all out nowadays. I am a resident in Spain with an UK licence.

Whatever you do, don't change your UK licence for a spanish licence. I'm 70 and just renewed my licence in UK. It's supposed to be endorsed with my national identity number (NIE) by traffico office. I am resident here, but my wife isn't. We have 2 spanish plated cars. Have lived here for 12 years and never had any problems with the 'rozzers'. The laws change here so frequently that I don't think any body knows them any more. But at the age of 70, who cares anyway ? Good Luck, Ed.

As long as you have a valid drivers licence, you will have no problem. However, if you are going to return to Mollina as a permanent resident, you will have to get a spanish drivers licence (not very complicated, you can do it through an agency (AsesorĆa). You would need to have the pertinent medical certificate and photographs, plus a copy of your valid licence to do this.
If you are just going for a visit, your current licence is fine, you will be asked to show it to rent a car.
Another thing, spanish licences are renewed every ten years up to the age of fifty, and every five years from then on. (Unless otherwise specified, for example: a person with poor eyesight may be required to renew every 2 or 3 years to make sure their sight is still good enough to continue driving).

Either way whether you have a British license or a Spanish one your age will not deter you from driving in Spain.
Me however, I am in the UK with a Spanish driving license and whilst I am allowed to drive here, I can only get insured for 1 year with my Spanish license then the insurers want me to get a Brit license??? No way, I'm not planning on staying here that long, God help me!!

nothing to say you cant drive a hired or British car find out more when you are over there 71 is not old and you want to keep your Independence,I know lots of people who are over 70 and enjoy there wee drive getting away from it all and there is the shopping to consider no you are not too old you are as Young as you feel hope your wife's keeping better you take care and drive away into the sunset you will know when its time to stop driving.us Scots we will drive for years and years enjoy your life and the weather for the winter will be better over there ?my mum and dad went away for the whole of the winter and that's what kept them going for years sadly dad passed away and mum has dementia,but they had great times in Spain.

According to the letter of the law, a non-resident may not drive a Spanish registered car. This is not taken seriously since a non-resident foreigner may buy a Spanish registered vehicle, some experts deduce that they must then also be permitted to drive their own vehicle. In addition, according to the letter of the law, a foreign tourist driving a Spanish registered car should have a Spanish driving licence (meaning exchanging your national licence for a Spanish one, until the EU has a common driving licence). The current European driving permit which is a plastic card is accepted and need not be registered. Other than that, I think the laws on age are the same. Once you reach a certain age, you need to re-take your licence exam.

As you are from the UK which is part of the EU you can driver on you UK European license,but in the UK i think you have to renew your driving license at the age of 70 . Please check with the DVLA in the UK. Berst wishes.
