yeah!! i was on barcelona!! it's a wonderful town!
1st: your should see the church named sagrada familia
2nd: the parc guell (that's a beautiful spot)
3st: la rambla (it's like the "champ élysées in spain) a lot of shops
4st: la placa catalunya
5st: , museum of pablo piccasso, miro...the aquarium

and if you have time, you must take a train to going to Tarragona (1h of train) there is a HUGE attraction Parc called "port aventura" ...check on google
and in tarragona there is an water park! so take your bikini

have fun!!

The norm. ie the catheradal, the cable car system, ( great views), Hard Rock Cafe, La Rambals, various markets.

One place you might try out are the steps.
Those are supposed to be really nice, and supposedly let you see all of Barcelona.

Don't miss the Templo de la Sagrada Familia, the Ramblas, and the Eixample to Parc Güell, and the Barrí Gotic. If you have time, check out or go to a concert at the Palau Musica, and try to get to the Museu de Xocolat...chocolate museum...mostly sculptures made of chocolate. Reallly different and fun, with a chocolate shop at the end. Tons of artists were housed in various parts of the city, including Picasso, who made his home there for about 30 years (though he moved around a bit, this was his home base most of the time) and Miró. Dalí's home was not far away in Figueres, and there's an outstanding museum in his house...way cool if you're into him!

Steps? I think cbroam is referring to the steps leading from the Plaça de Espanya to the Palau Nacional. Not necessarily the best view of the city, but a great spot to watch the Magic Fountain show: fountain with colored lights and music, that they put on every night at nightfall. Better views of the city from the Ciutadella at the top of Montjuic. Higher still.

Cable cars? Not like in San Francisco, but trams...I didn't do that. Can´t say much about it, but I´m sure you get great views from there, too.

Tibidabo, if you are interested in Amusement parks...it's over 100 years old. An Aquarium and a terrific zoo, also. I think there's even a water park on the outskirts...and don't forget...there are beaches there, too.

You may want ot check out the Montjuic Museum and the magic fountain. You can pass by the afternoon markets which sells goodies (such as accessories etc).near the Barcelona Colon..Take a short walk and it will lead you to Mare Magnum, the mall near the port which they call La Rambla del Mar.Lots of tourists and locals alike gather there. Check out the La Sagrada Familia which I greatly appreciate from the outside. But dont get your hopes up since it is still under construction. You can either like it or hate it. Dont miss the Parc Guell where you will see a bird's eye view of the city, plus Gingerbread houses, mosaics and other works of the artist Guell. If you have time, there's still the Olympic stadium,Chocolate museum and the famous Picasso Museum which features Pablo Picasso's masterpieces.Enjoy your trip!

If you haven't booked a hotel checkout the H10 hotel sites as they sometimes have good offers on rooms. Close to the diagonal as well.

Be warned there are pickpockets in Barcelona. I'm not telling you to put you off!!! You need to be vigilant, watch your bags at the airport, and when your out at night
