The resort will be closed then, until April, apart from the local shops.
The best bet for Spain in Jan is the South, More things open there as the weather is better.
Why don't you book the Canaries!?!? - Everything is open there and it shouldn't cost that much more.

We were there in November and in the smaller resorts everywhere was closed - the only shops we saw open there were the pharmacies - we couldn't even get a coffee. The sun was shinging though ...
At the bigger resorts like Lloret a lot of places will be shut but there will be enough open that you can get a meal or shop at a mini market - might be a bit dead for a stag do though.
You could go to Barcelona instead - there's always something going on there.

if you hav'ent booked anything yet, why not try Prague or Amsterdam.
it'll be more lively.and the costa brava wont be that warm in january.

There will be the shops and cinemas used by the local people but it is very much the off season.
