try
www.fotocasa.es
the pages are in Spanish, but moving to here, you should speak a bit of Spanish. These are pages, where private people offer places to rent. So you get an idea of what the rent is like.
Are you moving to Murcia Capital (city) or to the province of Murcia? The township of Murcia is quite large, so villages like El Palmar (20.000 inhabitants) are part of Murcia town, but only 6 km(4 miles) ffrom the city center.
Get a very good map of the province of Murcia. Maybe you can download something in Yahoo or from the CAMPSA pages (www.campsa.es or .com)
Try www.murciaturistica.es, the page of the turism office for the province and Autonomous Region of Murcia. Contact them for material.
www.murcia.es is it for the town of Murcia.
finestrat1@yahoo.es is my e-mail to contact me for further help.

Hi, I live in Murcia too. I have always found the apartments I've rented direct from an owner.
As you moving to Murcia city or somewhere else in the province?
You won't find it easy in the city if you don't speak Spanish or don't bring someone who does as it is not a city used to ex-pats.
Try looking on www.fotocasa.com or www.segundamano.es, you will find personal ads for places to rent.
Letting agents will tend to charge 1 months' rent on top of the deposit that you have to pay.
Don't get caught out by dodgy agencies who try to pretend they are private owners. They push you to make an appointment (usually the address is "plaza preciosa 2"). Then they say that foreigners won't get properties let out to them and that you have to pay them to be an intermediary. The con is that you have to pay but not based on results.
They say it is cheaper than paying 1 months' rent to an agency but at least when you have paid this it means that they have found you a place rather than just paying and hoping!
If you are going to live in Spain for more than 180 days, you need to get an NIE number.
You will get asked for this everywhere, for buying a car, setting up an account at a video store, etc. etc.
In Murcia, you need to go the extranjerĂa in El Barrio del Carmen.
Don't queue up with all the non-Europeans. Being European, you get served more rapidly so you need to go to the side door which is to the right of the building as you are looking at it.
Say you are "comunitario" and they will let you in.

Good areas in Murcia centre to live in are:

Vistabella (close to the river)
Barrio del Carmen (international area, close to the centre)
Infante (close to the river and hypermarket)
Juan Carlos I / Juan de BorbĂłn (a bit further from the centre but there is a free tram)

Good luck with your move.
I moved here 6 years ago and love Murcia!

Hello,

This link should give you places in the Costa Calida/Murcia region that offer long term rents. I've had a really good holiday in a property I found in this company, but they do offer long term rentals too:

My best advice for moving to Spain would be to try and master a bit of the language before you go out there and then immerse yourself in the culture - don't fall into the Brits Abroad trap! Also, you'll need to adjust to the siesta, but that might not be a problem. Try and line some work up before you go out there too. If Spanish is a problem, there are loads of cleaning/property management companies in and around the areas popular with second home owners, many of them English speaking.

Suerte!
