In Spain, should I book train and bus tickets in advance for traveling from one city to another?

I will be in spain in 8-17 (Sep.). I want to go from Madrid to Malaga by train, from Malaga to Granada by Bus, and from Madrid to Barcelona by train. I wonder if tickets are available for buying in the station (or the tickets are usually sold out) and how many hours earlier I should buy the tickets from the station (can I buy them about 1 hour before the departure time).

Here is a website in English for the train timetable. You can book your seats online in advance. The website will tell you which trains have seats available.

For your travel by bus to Granada I would buy the tickets on the day. It is a good bus station in Málaga. The bus station and rail station are close to each other. It is just a 5 minute walk between the two. If the bus to Granada from Málaga is full, get the bus from Málaga to Torre Del Mar and then the bus from there to Granada. It will take longer but going through the mountains will be spectacular. Having said that, there is just one bus a day that way.
How are you travelling back to Madrid. There is an airport at Granada with regular flights to Madrid. Granada airport is my favourite. It is small and stress free.
Enjoy.

They are available at the stations, if there are any left. Yes, booking in advance is PARTICULARLY suggested during the summer months. You might get luckier in September, but if you don´t buy them ahead of time, you have to stand in line. Much easier to get them online or over the phone, if you can communicate well enough. (Phone conversations are particularly difficult if you're not fluent.).

having just been to spain for a 15 day vacation i can assure you that booking train and bus tickets in advance is extremely wise. Buses generally dont need to be booked more than a day in advance but trains fill up fast.
While in madrid i wanted to catch a train to toledo at like 11:30 ish AM so i arrived at the station at 8AM to get a ticket and every train to any place until 5 PM.

I would try to book your tickets as early as possible just to be on the safe side. so like when you get to madrid the first thing you should do is try to get all your train tickets. then see about the buses since they send out like 4 at a time.

i hope you have fun!!!

faabulous
NO!
there will be train tickets you can just by a day ticket for like 30 euros and it will get you on both your trains, and the ticket is good for the bus.
