ETA is a terrorist group from the north of Spain, they are from a region called Pais Vasco, and the reason they do so many terrorist acts is because they want to be independent from Spain. it is actually very interesting. Let me know if you want anymore info on them!! |

Here's one of my faves: How about discussing Ísabel la Católica.
Not her marriage to Fernando, not her Catholicism, not the unifying of the country to what it is today, not even the really interesting fact that she gave birth to so many children (and married them all off to the most important royals in Europe, much as Queen Victoria did 350 years later)
But the really juicy stuff! See if you can find anything out about the civil war and her succession to the throne, her betrothal and what happened to THAT, and why it was supposed to come about, and how she ACTUALLY wound up married to Fernando.
THAT is a fun story! You're going to have to delve pretty deeply to find some of it...it's not the sort of stuff you generally find until, like Jr./Sr. year University IF you are concentrating on Spanish History...not going to show up in fourth year High School Spanish class, or AP European History, but WAY more interesting than "Flamenco", or "bullfighting", or even how Latin music (which, BTW, I love!) developed...though, that's not a bad idea, either. |
