Is Oviedo, Spain a safe city?

Is Oviedo, Spain safe for someone to walk around alone during the day, in terms of things such as muggings and other such violent crime? How does it's crime statistics compare to other Spanish cities of similar size?

Thanks

Asturias isn't known for being un-safe.... but the only crimes that I think happen in Oviedo is theift....

it is "off" of the main tourist trails, but being the Capital city, there is to be expected more crime...

How ever, the crime here would be a lot less than for example in Valencia where there are very many tourists

Yes, Oviedo is a safe city. Basically all of Spain is a safe bet and I can assure you that you are OK walking around the city. As always, when visiting a place as a tourist, use "normal/logical" precaution.
To tell you the truth, I have not been to Oviedo in some time. In general it is not considered to be one of the top travel destinations in Spain.

♥ gӘm''gӘm ♥
ofcourse. Its very safe.

I am a 19 year old female & have travelled around spain..not once have I felt in danger.

Just use common sense and don't flash youre cash/jewellery like you wouldn't in certain parts of the UK/US.
