Compared to when they had the peseta, yes, extortionately more expensive.

Leather goods are a lot cheaper than in the UK, but good god is it steap to eat out there now.

Went to Barca last year for Holiday and every time we ate out, 2 courses and a couple of drinks, was over 70 Euros for 2 adults and 1 4 year old. He usually shared my wifes food also.

We find it quite expensive specially since the euro started; but for you, coming from UK with pounds, it won´t be that expensive as you´ll get around 1,25 € per pound, so you are lucky. Anyway, comparing Spain to other European countries, Spain is much cheaper.
Enjoy your visit!!

Price comparisons depend on where you come from.

As a rough guide, you will pay in Euros what you pay in pounds in the UK.

Shop around as you would anywhere else and go native.

Go for 'menu del dia' at lunchtime.

Food and drink cheap

It all depends on what part of spain you visit! there's expensive parts and cheap parts - have a good time

Depends on where in Spain you're going. It's possible to eat fairly cheaply, even in Madrid.

It's a good idea to buy a guidebook (I find Rough Guide or Lonely Planet are best).

When I went there 2yrs ago it was about the same, although the locals did say the Euro pushed the prices up.

Spain is much cheaper then the UK. For sure!
It use to be much cheaper, and now with the introduction of Euro all prices have been risen.
Barcelona, Madrid, Ibz and all the tourist islands are the most expensive, but the south (Andalusia, as instance), Galicia and all the not commercial destination are still very cheap, still offering great quality of time.

Go to Spain it will amaze you

Ciao

Food very cheap if you eat in the Spanish restaurants, Menu Del Dia around 7.50 euros for 3 courses. Beer 1 euro, cigarettes 2.30 euros, (just over a £ a packet). Clothing around the same unless you go on the markets, leather goods cheaper.

Travel is very cheap, public transport a couple of euros, and taxis very competitively priced.

Much cheaper - food and drink anyway. And transport

You can live well there travelling on sterling

No..Eat where they have menu de day.Buy clothes at the local markets.Make sure when you change money, that the rate they offer is what you will get, with no comissionBe very carefull if they offer a rate high above others as there is usually a catch.Trains and bus are cheap. If you check around it can be cheap to hire a car.Hostals are reasonable, but look at room before you book and ask if breakfast is provided.

If you had a time machine you could go back to 2001 before the Euro currency was used. Then you could have a great time for a great price.

Now all Euro countries are way too expensive, although you might find them cheap because of the strength of the Pound.
