No...did the big one (return from Barcelona-Málaga - sleeper trains) a couple of years ago. It took 13 hours one way...and there were smoke detectors even in the sleeper cabin - that was 2007, so I guess they're more stricter now. You'll be taking the same trip - through Tarragona, Salou and all points west - it might be the Cádiz section of the train you'll be in, as (if I remember) the train is in two halves; one half ending up in Málaga, and the other half to Cádiz. They separate at Córdoba, if I'm not mistaken, and when it stops at main stations, people usually get out for a puff before it leaves again (the stops are usually between 5-10 minutes). |

I traveled with Renfe from Sevilla to Madrid, and Madrid to Salamanca, and there was no smoking allowed. Sorry! |

I honestly can't remember! But you can surely find out by accessing the train service site...renfe.es. I'm sure, if you can't FIND the information, you can contact them. If you don't speak/read/write in Spanish, then click on the British flag, and it'll all come up in English. |

No smoking... it is the E.U law... also not allowed inside most buildings... how ever many bars have started a ummm...s boycott against this action
But Train Stations... Hosptials... Colleges/Schools almost any public building activly enforces the E.U rules. So don't expece to go into a school and be allowed to smoke in the play-ground... outside of the school's premisis
at the train station there will be smoking areas though usual outside, but you can't smoke on the platforms
