Is it okay to stay in hostels in Spain?

Additional Details
I'm going to Madrid, Seville and Granada in April with a friend of mine. We just want things to be secure and clean, we don't really care about staying with stangers. Is that enough info??

Check online for hostels with safe deposits then you can be sure your documents, tickets, money etc will be safe. I have spent some time in Hostels and have never ever had a problem. But the best advice I can give for travelling here (or anywhere else) is not to carry your worldly possessions with you when you go out (hence the reason for safety deposit boxes where you are staying) so if anything bad does happen you will still have your safety net, Tourists places attract many other kinds of people besides tourists, so better safe than sorry.
I have lived in Spain 17 years and never had a problem.
Enjoy yourself here there is so much to see you will have lasting memories, make them all good ones, Best regards

I've stayed in many hostels in different parts of Spain and almost always they have all been quite okay. There will always be exceptions but as a rule of thumb they are good.

Well, I'm not really sure because you can generalize, but I've stayed in a beautiful one in madrid that gave breakfast and all, and i really enjoyed my time there.

I studied in Spain and although I never stayed in hostels there I did a few other countries. If you do a little research you should be fine. My friends and I used the website hostels.com where people can leave feedback on the hostels. Using that we were able to get an idea of what the setup at the hostel was like and see what people who have stayed there thought about it. We had great experiences at all the hostels we stayed at. Have fun in Sevilla, it is a beautiful city (spent 4 months there) and I miss it SO much! I didn't want to leave when my semester was up!

Hi man, I'm from a city close to Barcelone and recently I've spent few days with my mates in granada celebrating our 30's. I strongly recommend you this hostel ( see below). it's in the city center, has nice atmosphere and it's clean and safe.
Contact me for further info you need and sorry, no info about madrid. I've never been there.

Yeah. It's actually okay to stay in hostels anywhere. They are, after all, nothing but hotels/motels, just like any other.

Oh, wait, did you mean the International Youth Hostels????

I think you had better check those out. I don't believe there ARE any where you are going. And, yeah, those are generally safe places to stay, but privately owned ones are more centrally located.
