If you want to live in Spain you would need to apply for a work visa. If you want ti immigrate, you would have to apply for that. Both are NOT easy...but it is not easy for anyone to get a work permit or immigrate to the U.S. either...or any other country. However there is no prohibition against Americans moving to Spain, if they apply and meet the visa requirements. In all Europena countries, ALL other Europeans are ahead of Americans for work visas and immigration...that's how the E.U. works. If you are wealthy, and do not need to work in ANY foreign country, moving there is far easier. All countries want to protect their job markets for their own citizens. |

Not true...I've been here for nearly 36 years! And it's a great place to live.
Of course, I married a spaniard...that made it easy for me.
:-)
But really, contact or go to your nearest spanish authorities for full information on the requisites to come to live in Spain.
I don't see why you should have any problem, as long as you are self-supporting.
Here is a website where you can check the addresses and see which is closest to you.

No it is not true that you CAN'T move to Spain, but getting a permanent or long term visa may be difficult, and getting a work visa and a job is VERY difficult these days.
So, just dropping everything and trying to set up house there, not a good idea.
Do your research, make sure you have set up all the legalities correctly, and know that the red tape on any governmental arrangements in Spain change almost daily. |
