I'm British and I moved to Spain 4 years ago. I just love the place and the locals. I am still learning the language but the Spanish neighbours love to help me.
Life here is so much more relaxed. The pace of life can be frustrating when you are waiting for work to be done. also the red tape can be frustrating. Once you fit in with it, it's okay.
I go home occasionally to see family, but when you get out of the airport in the UK everything looks dull and people look stressed.
For those that think this is just a good country to have a holiday in, you are wrong. I live in a rural area. There are other Brits here but most are locals. You have to experience life here to appreciate it. The local population need very little in the way of an excuse to have a fiesta. They are a fun loving people. |

Yes, it is a good country.
You have good weather, prices are cheaper than other areas in Europe, good beaches, mountains, humor sense from locals, etc. |

Yes, but it can be infuriating.
You MUST speak Spanish to enjoy Spain, otherwise you will always be a "Guiri".
The bad things are unemployment, bureaucracy, tourist food, the driving, road signs (or lack of), this year's winter, rising prices, high house prices, Telefonica, Utility costs, and so on.............! |

The only things which are better in Spain is that is warmer than the UK and the fags are cheap.
Otherwise, stay in the UK and go abroad for holiday breaks.
Years ago it was cheaper, that made it attractive. Today, some retired Brits are actually depending on charity to eat.
If you want to live abroad then investigate further afield. Thailand is still good value. You can not own land there but there are ways of getting a decent home and living well, the North is mild and the living is good. |

I should think, taking into account the comment about Spanish...if you speak Spanish, you would be fine.
I suppose it depends where you are coming from. If you are used to tons of red tape, you'll feel quite at home. I understand that things are very complicated that way.
But, yeah, if you don't speak the language, you're not going to like it very well.
And it also depends how long you intend to live there.
I lived there for a year, long ago, and I loved it...but staying forever...leaving my family....I don't think I could do that. |

Spain is good for a holiday but not for living in.....once you live there you will see how different the people are towards you and you will be expected to speak Spanish for sure |
