Not very much.

Hey, they don't even wear ponchos in Mexico! But that's a Mexican costume at best, not Spanish at all.

Nope. No sombreros...not the big, straw, wide brimmed hats you are thinking of.

It's fairly expensive there.

And if you're looking for tacos, don't waste your time. They are extremely difficult to find there. You would have to search out one of the extremely RARE mexican restaurants.

They do, however serve tortillas. But they are not what you are thinking of. They are very thick omelettes. The most typical one has potatoes, onions, and garlic in it. Unlike a French style omelette, it is very thick, and they flip it and put it back in the pan on the other side.

Most typically, they eat stews and there's a bunch of game meat in their diet. Veal, pork, and chicken, as well as tons of seafood!

Their most typical dish is called Paella (you MUST have some...make sure it is home-made!) This is vegetables and meats in a saffron rice base. Paella Valenciana (sort of considered the basic recipe...the most original) has a mix of seafoods, chorizo (again, NOT mexican style) and sometimes some chicken in it.

Jamónes there are the most exquisite you will find ANYWHERE! The most typical ham is called Serrano...it is of a medium price. The most expensive is Ibérico, and is alternatively called "bellota" (because the pig in question has never been allowed to eat anything but acorns- bellotas) or "Pata negra", because you can tell it's authentic, by the black foot on the leg (and if you are getting it, you should be sure they are actually cutting it off the leg for you). You must try it, if only once! It is rather pricey.

They have a good number of artisan cheeses, too.

If you want to know how they dress, well, most people there have a very highly developed sense of style. For regular clothing, you should look up CorteInglés, and find the fasion pages of the catalog. For folk clothing (which is what you mention for Mexico...they don't dress like that there, either) look up flamenco, for typical folk clothing from Andalucía, or any of the other regions for what is typical there. There are 17 political Regiones, and each is divided into several provincias. I believe there are more than 50 provincias, and each one has its own "typical vestido folklórico".

Do a search for typical recipes, if you want to know more. Take your taste for adventure, and expect to sometimes simply close your eyes and taste! Some things may not look pretty to you, and they may sound exotic, but taste them anyways!

Both Spain and Mexico are mainly catholic and we both speak the same language but in a different way. Everything else is different, we are a kingdom they're a republic, food is totally different, climate is different, culture is different, music is different, traditions and folklore are different...

Spaniards are Europeans. Their taste in food are milder than Mexico. There are no ponchos or sombreros, but like European women, scarves around the neck are very popular.

The Euros are worth more than US dollars, so yes, things are more expensive. When visiting, you will find many restaurants that look like bars with outside and inside sitting areas. Try the tapas. These are small individualized portions of food that are the staples of Spanish food. I would order several small portions and share with your friends. If you find you like certain food, then order a larger portion for yourself.

Familiarize yourself with Spain by visiting the numerous websites on the different regions.

Have fun!

No. Totally different. And I don't think Mexicans wear ponchos and as you people call the "sombreros". Just so you know, the word sombrero in spanish, at least here in Spain, means hat. It doesn't just designate the mexican hat. And Mexicans have a very different culture due to the influence that the cultures they had before we arrived. Unlike in the US, people who lived there weren't all killed or put into reservoirs. They mixed with Spaniards(as you call us). That's why they are even a different race. We are caucasian and they are not. That's why when an american movie it's said to be located in Spain and all the extras are mexicans because it has been filmed there, we usually get angry. Not for racism, but because that's not real and helps making people like you confused about who and how we are. They even have a very different spanish. Some of the words they use are totally unknown for me. I have to ask them to explain... The same happens with the rest of latin america. Their language and culture are very different from Spain and from each other. What they call tortilla is not eaten here. The translation of Tortilla is Omelet(which by the way comes from Omelette, french). Eggs with almost anything you can imagine. Tuna fish, potatoes, mushrooms... I recommend you to taste the "revuelto". Is the same as an omelet but instead of giving it a circular form, it is scrambled(may be was better another word, I just picked up the first one in the dictionary).
And the reason why we don't have as much mexican food or are more unaware of mexican things than americans is because we live about 8000Km from them. So it's normal we don't share our culture.
We have other traditional clothes. Flamenco is just from Andalucía, the south of Spain. In the north we have different cloths. But they are only for festivities. Normally I wear jeans and a t-shirt. Just like you. Oh! And another thing american people seem to think, is that men always wear the Torero suit. That's just for toreros when they are going to "torear". Which is only in festivities too.
You should know that in Spain we have 4 languages. Castillian Spanish, catalan, bask and gallego. Everybody speaks spanish though. And the accent varies a lot depending where you go.
Have fun here in Spain. I hope you have good weather. I live in the north and right now it's raining and we have 10 Celsius degrees at 8pm. The south has a much better weather.

No it is nothing like Mexico. Even the language is a different dialect. In Spain they speak what is known as Castillian Spanish and in Mexico they mostly speak what I like to call Spanglish. It is more like Italy than Mexico.
