Is the drinking age strictly enforced in Spain? |
I read on here that the age for buying and consuming alcohol in Spain is 16. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_drinking_age
I'm going to Spain on the 28th of May, and I come back the 20th of June. I don't turn 16 until the June 12th! I am LITERALLY the ONLY one going to the trip who won't already be 16 when we leave because the trip is mainly for people between their junior and senior years, but I am going between my soph. and jr. (and I am young for my age!) but I'm a year ahead in Spanish. What am I going to do?!
Everyone else can drink and I can't (except the last 8 days)?!
This is going to be so embarrassing. :(

The legal age to drink and smoke in Spain is DEFINITELY 18. I'm afraid Wikipedia is wrong. It needs to be updated. They don't usually ask for I.D. , so kids who look older will get away with it but if you are young looking you could have problems. They are starting to crack down on this, so you'll just have to see when you get there. |

maybe, just maybe, if u are lucky, go to a groceries store and buy beer, just MAYBE they wont ask for ID lol but dont count on it lol
thing is, if u look older u could b lucky... but if ur on taht kind of trip... not easy
i remember buying drinks when i was 15 and i had no problem, but when i went on a highschool trip... i dunno, is like if they could smell it lol
and not being spaniards wont make it easier, cuz basically, teens from the uk, germany or other countries love to come to spain and get drunk |

The legal age is 18 and it is enforced.
I have seen young looking people being asked to leave bars and they weren't even drinking.
So don't worry, none of you will be able to drink!! |
