Hipercor or Carrefour are enormous supermarkets/stores where you can buy almost everything you would need for your home - from food, clothes, to electricals, bathroom suites, beds etc to a car or a boat |

There is no such equivalent, much to many Ex pats disappointment, all the hypermarkets seem to sell most things, however choices are not the same and certain products are very expensive, for example, kettles, if in the UK, could get one from Argos or Tesco from £5, here they are more like 20-30€ There are companies that will do shopping for you, see the English language papers for details such as the Costa Blanca News or Costa Del Sol News, there are ads in the CBN this week, Alternatively, shop at somewhere like El Cortes Ingles, bit like a John Lewis |

I live in the Costa Blanca. There is no equivalent as such although there are some British shops here that have an Argos catalogue that you can order from, you pay 20% delivery to Spain. Spain is getting far too British as far as I am concerned. I didn't come to Spain to live in little England but it now seems that way after 15 years here. I am seriously thinking of relocating. Perhaps I should return to the UK I hear it's full of foreigners!!! |

Try:
Media Markt - Electrical domestic goods
Otherwise the choice is pretty limited. Alcampo has some good deals with its "1" brand.
Why not try: lasegundamano.es
Second hand and generally decent if you are willing to put the time in. |

There are plenty of ex-pat businesses that will deliver from UK retailers for you in exchange for a percentage mark-up on the price of goods. Of course it will depend where you live but try these who are near Alicante if that is local to you http://www.cataloguecafe.net/
I have not seen an equivalent catalogue shop in Spain so otherwise recommend Carefour or another big supermarket. |
