The paperwork will be daunting. You may find that finding work is virtually impossible these days. They are deeper into recession than we are, and jobs are going to locals first, then EU citizens, and Americans are likely to be finding it difficult.

START by making sure you have a work visa! Without it, you are pretty much toast. Check with the nearest consulate.

Here's a list of potential agents and employers, though I'm not familiar with most of them. I CAN tell you that CIEE is a good company that places Americans in teaching jobs, (among others?) Check with them, first.

I'm not sure how difficult a time these companies are having getting people papered and placed, but you should start there. If they can get you the job, they will have to help you get the papers, too.

hi dude,my name is andres,i'm spanish .
to come and live in spain ... would have to have a job offer or have someone who makes you a letter of invitation ....... I live in madrid (though eh lived in barcelona) an apartment ... in the center of Madrid or Barcelona costs to hire 1,000 or 1,500 euros (although you can share apartamentocon students) ... on the outskirts of Madrid apartment a month it costs 500 or 700 euros ..... the food is cheap, clothes is cheap and very expensive clothing brand (D & G, DIOR )....... the subway is cheap 1 euro one way, the bus 1 euro, the average salary in Spain is 1,500 to 2,000 euros ... (but the immigrants paid less) people with college education paid more .....

And if you want I can teach Spanish to the teacher when you know something

As an American you will find it almost impossible to move to Spain without either being in the military or having a firm sponsor you and sort out your papers or opening your own business and you need to have capital of at least something like 250,000 euros. Americans are living in Spain and a lot are living illegally as the police are not too bothered but Spain doesn´t really have any links with the USA so they are not interested in helping them with the paperwork. It also depends on the area you want to move to. recently there have been US firms setting up in the major cities such as Madrid, you might want to try and find out who these are with a view to working for them.
