Firstly its not illegal to watch the signal coming from the Sky satellites.
You buy a digibox and connect it to a dish which is pointed into the sky, how can it be illegal to take something that is freely available.
The problems start when you take a sky card out of the country and use it then you are in breach of contract, which is a civil matter.
First is your box connected to the phone system and is your box still under contract to Sky, if you are under contract then you legally have to keep the box connected to the phone, that's how they keep tabs on your box.
If you choose to take your box to Spain DO NOT tell Sky. If you use the box without inserting your Sky Card you will receive British Freeview Channels only not including Channel 5 Providing that you are connected to a large enough dish, the size depends on which part of Spain e.g. the canary islands you need at least two and half metres, the main land requires a smaller size.
The BBC and ITV channels will probably be London region.
The way I did it was to buy a Box intended for the British market in Spain I then brought the box back the UK and ordered a Sky British Freeview Card for a one of payment of £20 using a UK contact address (avoid giving them a phone number if possible). I then connected the box to a friends UK dish in my chosen region and phoned Sky on an English mobile phone to get the card activated, when the card gets replaced periodically it will be sent to my UK contact address, they can't phone because I didn't give them a phone number.
I then took box and card back to Spain, Freeview including Channel 5 was enough for me. |

I had SKY for years, then I had a new system put in, not long after I was cut off, after many phone calls, etc., etc., (very long story) they finally gave in and told me it was because I was viewing illegally from Spain, I still have free view here, which you may find enough for your needs.
I did offer SKY to act as snoop to check out all folks in Spain watching illegally, but did mention I would be over 90 years old before I had left the urbanisation on which I live, and did they know almost every bar/hotel/restaurant/apartment/villa, etc., etc., had a dish!!! needless to say they did not reply to my letter!!!!! |

yes you can get sky tv in spain but its not legal but nobody seems to bother they can tell you have it because you need a 1.3 meter dish to receive it with just the box you can get quite a few programs but you can also buy cards out here |

You can get the cards easily all over Spain. Most advertise in the local papers. |

There has been a huge hue and cry over this recently as one main dealer here has been done for suppliying to the public something that Sky say can only be seen in the UK.
I have lived here in Spain 17 years, have Sky card, dish and box. Card was activated in the UK using my sisters address, box and dish were supplied by dealer here in Spain.
I pay 22.00 a month via standing order in UK bank, for Sky channels, and I am sure as long as they are getting my money along with millions of others (I suspect that have Sky here in Europe) they are not going to chop it off, but then they do think I am in the UK!
If you purchase a second card in the UK for your home there, then bring it to Spain (like I did) it will work. |

We had a terrible experience with Sky.Cut a long story short we brought a sky touring system for our caravan and took it to spain. They found out and disconnected us when we got back here never to reinstate the service.Apparently it is illegal to take the viewing card out of this country and it is a copyright breach. We also have friends who have an apartment in Alicante who have just come home and all the people in thier block had the sky cards with them and were viewing illegally but Sky has blocked the signal so none of them have it anymore. |

yes but the card is married to the box so take the box with you (sat box) |

I live in Spain and could get it quite easily. However, I didn't come to Spain to watch TV and I don't miss it one bit. I have a better life without the box. |
