Looking for somewhere near Barcelona for pool holiday!?

Wanting to go to Barcelona for a holiday this June but not sure we can afford to stay in Barcelona itself! Does anyone know of a nice hotel close enough to Barcelona to be able to visit a few times. Hotel needs to have a swimming pool too! Any ideas??

I went to santa susana in Costa Brava which is only a bus journey into the main city of Barcelona. I stayed in the Santa Susana resort hotel. It is an all inclusive hotel. I payed about £200 for a week stay which is very cheap for an all inclusive. You get what you pay for so cant excpect 5* but it was clean, food and drink was nice and staff friendly. Look on teletext holidays they are doing really good deals for this area right now.

Try looking for hotels in the town of Stiges - only a short train ride away from Barcelona as well.

If your looking for something really cheap try the Camping sites between the Airport and Castel Delfels the have a pool and the beach
and are only 1.40 Euro 15 minute bus ride from BCN. they call it camping but they do have small bungalows for rent although I dont know the prices.

The Costa Brava and Costa Dorada are both within easy reach of Barcelona
You'll find plenty hotels, and apartments in these resorts
and they'll all have swimming pools

Use the website trip advisor for comparison and reviews

Sitges. There are trains to BCN every 20 minutes or so and the last bus back is at 3 am.

Great beaches, bars and shops.

There are many hotels and you get what you pay for.

Are you looking for a family type hotel or are you a couple?

If you don't need all the facilities of a resort-style hotel then I would recommend either staying in a cheap-ish lower-end hotel in town and then using the great public swimming facilities (or the sea!) or trying to find a deal on hotelclub.com or lastminute.com in a hotel in town with a pool. Because of the 'crisis' you should be able to get some good deals.

Avoid the long weekend 18-21 June because there is a big music festival in town that weekend and everything is (a) fully booked and (b) more expensive.

If you need a more family-focused resort style hotel then anywhere on the costa daurada or costa brava will do - there is a regular train service to and from barcelona up and down the coast which stops in all the resorts. I know some people have suggested Sitges but it is one of the more expenisive ones, whereas Vilanova (for example) next door would be cheaper.

Have a look here: http://www.alpharooms.com/guide/spain/costa-brava/default.aspx

You can see where the trains stop here: http://www.renfe.es/cercanias/barcelona/mapa_zonas.html
Any of the stops on 'Line 2 Sud' (dark green) between Sant Vincenc de Calders and Gava OR Line 1 (light blue) between Badalona and Sant Pol del Mar would be ideal for you.
