Looking for work in Spain, Anyone got any advice or some useful websites?

You do not say what you do but
1) the building trade has virtually dried up
2) the Costas seasonal work is virtually non existent
3) if you intend to run your own business the set up in Spain is long winded and can be expensive
4) if you cannot speak Spanish you will not get very far working for yourself or not.
5) if you are buying anything, home or business, make damn sure there are no unpaid debts. Unlike the UK debts, like unpaid bills, go with the property not the individual.
6) do not put any money down on any off-plan development.

Hope I haven't put you off.

Depends where you go and what you can do. Many places unless you speak Spanish you will only get tourist, crappy work which is poorly paid and bars are closing weekly due to the economic crises.

Spanish tend to be well qualified for the jobs they hold. A good job which is always in demand is teaching english as a second language. Hours are not often great as private students often need lessons after work, which is often after 8 in the evening, and for younger students, late evening after school. If you work for a school the money is not so good as if you work for yourself.

Remember for every job you apply for you are up against well qualified Spanish applicants, so unless the job requires something that they canÂ´t offer you will find it difficult. Wages are very poor as compared with the UK.

Wth 20% unemployment in Spain and a work force looking for employment to be quite honest unless your Spanish is perfect or you have real required skills you havn`t got a hope in hell of getting a job,,

Personally, I wouldn't bother, it is a difficult time for all and one thing is for sure, they won't be giving jobs out to non-Spaniards readily. From what I hear from friends out there, this is common practise. It won't get any easier for the foreseeable future either - I'm going out there in a couple of weeks and expect to find that their version of protectionism is in force.

unemployment makes finding work in Spain more daunting than almost any place else in the civilized world!

Best bet: Probably to do a search...just put "work in Spain" into the search engine, and you should be able to pull up a long list of employers and agencies...be sure to check them out first, because I have no idea which ones are scams...I can tell you that CIEE is legit. They mostly place English teachers and school workers, and maybe some hotel workers. They also, I believe, make sure you have legal work papers, and they help you find housing. At least in as much as they give you a list of housing options, and you do the arranging.
