What's a decent price to pay for a one bedroom on a one year contract in say L'Eixample? Just a ball park figure. I read somewhere that L'Eixample was a nice neighborhood and not too ...

Hi, as some of the other s have said be careful when hiring a car and always use a good reliable dealer or website.
I live in Spain and whenever people visit I usually tell them to look at www.doyouspain.com
They have some good offers and are found at most of the main airports in the south or the costa.
Also try Europa cars as they have good offers.
Hope it helps.

Check out the link. This is for a car hire broker. I live in Malaga and I always advise relatives to use them http://www.carjet.com/ They will get you a good car at a good price from one of the reputable companies here in Spain.
Do not book through a travel agent or prebook with a British company, it will cost a lot more.

Be very careful. The car hire business has the same proportion of crooks as the general population. You can end up with a) no car b) a dangerous car c) a different car from the one you expected d) an add on charge you weren't expecting etc etc. Sorry to be cynical but most of these things have happened to me, and I am reasonably careful.
The best, safest way is to book a car through the travel agent. If you find that you have a problem you can get the agent's rep to sort it out. This assumes you travel with a mainstream agent such as Thomson. If you pick a 'bargain trip' with a cr*p company everything is risky.
