Guinevere

Mosquitos in Alcudia?

Im used to getting bitten by mozzies where ever i go in the world, none of my family react in the same way. But last week in Alcudia, i would have won the prize for pizza-body. Never have i had so many bites, despite taking all the usual precautions( plugs, sprays etc) I and my family and everyone in our hotel got bitten 100s of times. Is it always like this in Alcudia or is there a safe time. Because if there is not a safe-time then no-one willl be visiting there ever again.
Additional Details
thanks ninky, but i started taking anti-histamine before i went as i knew i would react if i got bitten, but they were useless this time

Guinevere I must sympathise with you on this one. I used to get bitten all the time when on holiday until I started taking Vitamin B1. Go to Boots and buy them they are cheaper there than anywhere. 60 tablets.....take 1 tablet per day and those mozzies won't come near you!!
I now take them all the time, just one per day and I really do feel so much better.
Give them a try and Good Luck!

Were you staying at the Bellevue holiday village in Alcudia

Its very often a problem there, as its beside the lake

We were there in April

and thank goodness there were no mossies then.

Neither me or my two children were bitten in Alcudia - but my husband was in July (years ago). You will find they have many stagnant bodies of water there, which attracts them, and provided you choose a hotel away from these you're fine. I think you might just be one of these people who are very tasty to insects!

i take it you were in the bellvue Village? anywhere near there has lots of mosquitoes, they comes from the lake, I have been several times and luckily I don't get bitten but family do. I have been May, June, July, Sep and its always the same.

I've never been to Majorca, but just thought I'd recommend taking antihistamine tablets when you go away, because it stops the bites from swelling and itching. I too get bitten badly, and this always helps me. :)
