Maybe many of the people who are here in Spain and claiming the same thing may be able to enlighten you. But I seriously doubt it. Dali the Lama was right, the Spanish authorities are withdrawing expats from their health system (if they are NOT paying into it) as they are struggling to meet their own demands. (Pity Uk doesn't do the same eh?)
Ask at the local benefits office and they will tell you just where you stand, but I doubt if they will give you anything. Sorry

yes you can you need to inform the dhss of your intention. you need form e126 take to the spanish social security office you will then be issude with a spanish social securty card that intitles you to full medical care any benifits you are claiming before you leave stay as they are but you canot claim new benifits once your here. Also spanish doctors will not see you if you do not speak spanish or have an interpreter. The people that are mentioned having servises refused are those that come here with a euprpean medical card the old 121 it for emergeny only and if used to often in spain the nhs are refusing to pay all benifits payed to expats in spain are paid fron Newcastle on Tyne so if you are honest and straight with them there is not a problem its the one trying to work the system they are after

I wish I could help you we have been here for 26 years....I would advise you to contact the Spanish consulate, ask them and get it all down in writing................my mother has been cared for under the EU agreement about doctors/hospitals etc., she is 84 and has nothing but praise for the system, BUT naturally this has NOT had anything to do with benefits, rules do apply for instance, if you left the UK after a certain date you can obtain winter fuel benefit/certain other benefits, but seeing as we all left the UK in 1981 none of these applies to her, I do hope your sort this out and can get to live here, its will but much healthier to spend your days in the sun and certainly more relaxed...................,

Move to Gibralta instead or one of the British Colonial areas. Check with the government, the tax department should help. If you have to pay British tax you will also get all or most of the other benefits.
