I suppose it matters if you are male or female.
They make some lovely perfumes that are sold in Spain, but very difficult to get outside of the country. If you like the smell of oranges, Agua Fresca ...dang! I think it was called Agua Fresca de Naranja...by a perfumier named Adolfo Dominguez. I particularly liked that fragrance, and his Agua Fresca de Rosas (tea rose fragrance) He makes men's fragrances as well. Very difficult to find here.
Also, Ceramics...bowls and plates and the like, are very popular, distinctive, and well made, there.
T-shirts/sweatshirts...some designs can't be gotten outside of Spain.
There are these really popular purses/bags, that say Madrid on black...they are available for any city in the world, but that would be cool.
They all seem to wear decorative scarves in Madrid, so, going to the Rastro on Sunday, and finding a couple would be neat.
Olive oil, wine, Champagne, Sherry, canned things (like tuna in olive oil. I had a special request from a friend to pick some up) olives, patés, and THE COFFEE!!!!! (swoon!) they make a special coffee, it must SAY Torrefacto on it, but it is unavailable, for the most part, in any other country. And the HAM! (another swoon) That, she should probably check into whether it is legal to transport...cause there are regulations.
Need more ideas? email me...I got a few more. |

I go to Madrid a few times a year. The one thing that I always do is listen on the radio there for the top few songs. Then I go to either Corte Ingles or another large store that sells cds and get a few. There are always songs that remind me of my trip as well as some hidden gems. The other items I bring back are typically soccer jerseys, wine, fans(for female friends, get the ones that say they are made in Spain not China), and Candy(for my kids) that we can't get here. |

I have been there many times my fiance is from there. EVERYTHING there is expensive, and other than the airport its kind of hard to find souveneir shops. But something like a keychain, or a sticker. My favorite souveneir I ever got from there was a bumper sticker that says " I <3 Espana!" and the heart is the color of the Spanish flag. But other than that things can get pretty costly =]] |

Well there are lots of places that sell fans
Some are very expensive, ornately hand carved and such, but you can get really pretty smaller ones for about 3 Euros!
Many have beautiful lace, and they're great for combating hot climates |
