I would suggest that your step dad comes over and actually tours around the building sites for work. There are plenty around the area. An alternative would be of course to set up himself, but I would suggest that he does this legally. I wish you luck with the sell of the villa - there is an abundance of homes for sale here at the moment, many have been on the market for many, many months. Many people have been unable to make the profit that they were assured they would receive when they bought "off-plan" and are now landed with properties that no-one wants to buy! It really is a buyer's market at the moment so be prepared to reduce the price! On the plus side - I have lived here for nearly 5 years and wouldn't live anywhere else (and certainly would not want to return to England). I think it is important to embrace the spanish way of life and consider myself very fortunate that I live amonst many Spanish people. I find it very sad when people move over and try to simply establish little "mini England's " in the sun - complete with conifer trees!! Good luck to the family and enjoy.
