Thutmose I

Nosotros and Vosotros Terms?

I see it written like this

Nosotros/as
Vosotros/as

What does the /as mean??

Show all answers

Mirielle
The /as means that they have alternate endings:

NOSOTROS means "we" and it either refers to a group of boys & girls mixed together, or just a group of boys.

NOSOTRAS means "we" also, but it can only be used when referring to a group of all girls. Having even just one male in a group of 100 means that you must use the first form.

VOSOTROS means "you all" and it refers to a group of boys & girls mixed together, or just a group of boys.

VOSOTRAS means "you all" (well, technically, you girls) and it can only be used when referring to a group of all females.

Vosotros & vosotras are informal ways of saying "you all." To speak to a group of people formally, use "Ustedes."

TheTruthHurts
it's short-hand for:

nosotros OR nosotras
vosotros OR vosotras

it's just showing the masculine and feminine versions of the verb.

Nosotros is we and vosotros is the Spanish plural for you ( like you guys this and that)

Example

1. Nosotros (male form)/Nosotras (female for) somos the Puerto Rico.=We are from Puerto Rico.

2.Vosotros (male form)/Vosotras (female form) sois de España.=You are from Spain.

Vosotros and Nosotros can be also used as a general word to include people from both genders like when you say in English "man kind" and yo are including men and women.
