sightseeing stuff:
must see:
-Sagrada familia
- Las ramblas from top to bottom. Don't miss la boqueria (main market in bcn)
- Paseig de Grà cia (including some modernist buildings in it you can get in such as La Pedrera)
-Cathedral
-Santa MarÃa del Mar and the Old quartier next to las Ramblas and Via Laietana
Parc Güell (it's a little bit difficult to reach bc its on the top of a hill and it's bad communicated but it's worthy going there).
Monastir de Pedralbes: Really nice monastery in Sarrià quartier. It's really nice because when you are inside it doesn't seem you're in a big city like bcn.
if you like museums:
-Picaso
-MNAC
if you like soccer:
FC Barcelona stadium and museum
other things:
The olympic stadium and St Jordi Dome in the hill of Montjuic. From the top there is a nice view of the port of Barcelona.
Maginc fountains in montjuic, near plaça espanya. A show of sound and light.
Tower of Collserola: A telecomunication tower on the top of a hill of Collserola from which you can have nice views. You can get on top of the tower but maybe it's not worthy to pay the fee. you will have nice views from the bottom too.
for shopping: Next to Plaça Catalunya (the city center) there is a commercial area. Boutiques along Passeig de Grà cia. Also shopping area in Diagonal Avenue in metro station of Maria Cristina.
Places to go out: For tourists there are some places next to las Ramblas. Check Jamboree. Also in Maremagnum, a leisure center in the port. In Port Vell you will find places places to eat seafood and some pubs. There are also clubs in this area: Shoko for example. You will find another big bunch of pubs and clubs in the streets of Santaló, Amigó (Quite close to plaça Francesc Macia). Check clubs like sutton or Otto Zutz.
Other recommendations: you can buy 10 trip transport cards for about 7,5 euros. Each trip allows you to take as many sorts of transport as you might need to reach your destination in 1h 15 min.
You can try good tapas in one of the many Tapas Bars in Passeig de Grà cia.
For good orchata try Planelles Donat in Carrer Portal de l'Angel, one of the streets starting in Plaza Catalunya. You will find this place going down on the right hand, before arriving to El Corte Ingles.
that's pretty much it |

I do not know the same of a single night club. However, if you invest in a travel guide such as 'Let's Go to Europe' or let's Go to Spain', you should see a few listed, possibly along with some type of assessment. People in Barcelona tend to party all night in the summer, so you may have no need to be visiting too many night clubs.
The must see places are the Rambla de las Flores, or the main street. It has a lot of street entertainment. You could walk into the newer town and see the Sagrada Familia. It is the shell of a cathedral that never was completed. You can also see other pieces of Gaudi's architecture, shuch as an apartment-type complex. Just off the Rambla, you will find an old cathedral that used to be a mosque. It is several centuries old and wrapped in history. It is the place where Christopher Columbus had some aboriginal North Americans baptised on returning from one of his voyages.
Be sure to see the water front, where you can view a staue of Christopher Columbus. The city also contains a Picasso museum, for which the admission has been relatively cheap. |

Las Ramblas is great...we spent 4 days in Barcelona last year and spent quite a bit of it there. It's a whole street full of shops, restaurants, and the street performers there were incredible. Also, go see the Sagrada Familia. It's a church but the most unusual one you've ever seen. I'm not huge into architecture or anything but even I enjoyed it.
We didn't really do any clubs...you can club anywhere. You're in Spain! Go eat tapas and drink sangria! Be careful on the Metro though...lots of pickpockets. I had someone rifle through my backpack purse while we were on the train. They didn't get anything but that's because I didn't have anything in there worth getting.
Pick up a travel book or at least check out WikiTravel www.wikitravel.com to see what's recommended. You don't want to miss anything important! |
