Una Sirena en el Lago Oscuro |
One more Spain question? |
I've always wanted to go, researched this country for years, and I've decided this was the year. I applied to study over there and was accepted, but unfortunately I had to change my dates because money was a problem.
I have the option of going either in October or November now (to study there), and I have to make a decision within a few days.
I'm leaning toward October, but the one reservation I have is that if I wait until November to go, then I will have more time to save money.
Also, airfares are a little bit cheaper.
One possible solution that ocurred to me :
From what I've read, and been told, October is an ideal time to go, and if I commit and decide to study there in November, I'll always have the option of going a few weeks early, in October, should I find a way to get more money or get a good deal on a plane ticket.
Here's what worries me: I don't know anyone to go WITH me. I am not worried about going over there to study, because it's part of an organized program and the school will help you find housing. I want to travel and see the sights, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea by myself. If I'm going to go off sight-seeing, I would rather have someone to go with me, but I don't know anyone who is able to go.
I would like to know some possible solutions to this dilemna, please?
I'm definitely going to Spain, going to study there, but I'm not sure what to do about this dilemna.
Thanks if you can help me. |

Why can't someone go with you from your class ??
Maybe you can meet someone here too travel with ??
many people travel in Spain and Europe, so you might find some people that will travel with you for parts,
you could visit a museum then pay for a tour guide, and you'll be put into a group |

I did all my traveling alone. You need to be a little bit more aware of your surroundings, but then, you don't have to compromise with anyone, about where to go, what to do, when to stop to eat...
You can do it...stick to places like youth hostels....where you can meet up with people. be open to new people and things, and enjoy yourself.
You'll do better if you try to do the traveling AFTER you have done your little study session (you really should try to go for the full year...a month isn't very much!) because you'll have a better feel for how to go about making arrangments and all. You'll also know not to duplicate trips you might make with your program.
Have fun! |

You can meet people here, for sure. I studied in Zaragoza last semester, and met a ton of people. Germans, English, Italians, etc... They're called "Erasmus students". They will be everywhere and wanting to travel, as well. There are groups on Facebook, as well as email lists that keep everyone informed of any traveling or parties. I would expect that you'd even meet some more Americans.
Traveling by yourself is ok, but... Can be lonely and even dangerous sometimes. But I'm sure you'll make new friends upon your arrival.
Good luck and have fun. |
