Una Sirena en el Lago Oscuro |
One more Spain travel question? |
I have a dilemna. Well, I'm finally going this year and I'm planning my trip now... for November. I would like to get everything squared away now, though. :)
I'm going to study there, but my course lasts for a month. Here's my dilemna... my course is in Barcelona, and while I'm studying I'll have nearly zero free time. I really would LOVE to see Andalucia becuase that is the region I've been researching my whole life. After I finish my course I would like to go there and visit. The thing that attracts me the most is the architecture and the beautiful things to look at; the cathedral at Jaén, the cathedral at Sevilla (the one that Columbus is supposedly buried in), La Alhambra.
The problem is that I can't afford to stay very long... a month at most.
I would like to know: I know from friends that even a lifetime isn't enough to get to know that country... but to really "get something out" of my trip, how long would you recommend staying? Tourists CAN stay up to three months, and I would but I can't afford to.
I have read, however, that people who are not entitled to a work permit do have an option. I have read that there are organizations that match up families with people who are certified to teach EFL, and in exchange for teachign EFL for free, they provide you room and board and sometimes food. I looked up said organizatons on the web but the site is no longer valid. Anyone know about this?
I would like to go ahead and get airfare asap so I don't miss out on deals.
Gracias mil si me pueden ayudar. Additional Details Yes, of course I have my degree.
I should clarify, what I was wondering was how much time I should stay as a tourist to get to know Andalucia.
Umm thanks though Xavier... I think :) |

I don't know the visa process for an American...
I think we should allow more Americans to eaiser come and spend their money here =( BUT
If you did get a Work and Learning permit. We have almost 3,5 Million people un-employed. I know the major cities including Barça are most affected.
I'm watching on C6NA "Hoy; Bai Naforra" (Not something I'd like to admit!) now in Zaragoza there is a family who must eat in the communial kitchens because they can't afford to eat at home because they have no jobs. and this city is over an Hour from me !
I've been seeing more and more stories like this. So I don't know if you will have much chance finding work
-The Womans husband was a Builder and she was a "business woman" it doesn't list her job-
So I'm not sure how an "EFL" would help you. I know there are places for teacher, I've seen the adverts. But with out a longer term. and University degree. I'm not sure what you could find. and in Barça... how many other people are/will be doing the same as you at the same time ? |

I'm from Spain, although not in Andalusia, but I know its monuments and such. With a month is enough to know Andalusia, while Spain, with the monuments that have ...
When finished studying in Barcelona,
tiempecito you can stay there on a tourist map, and to visit Andalusia. Do not worry because there the days are longer and have more time to contemplate the monuments.
You could choose any one of three star hotel, which is best. After finishing this course, you could take some time to visit Andalusia. |

There is an awful lot to see and experience in Barcelona, it can be done very cheaply if you need to.
Don't expect to find work, there is little enough of it for the natives at the moment.
You are young enough to get rich and return. |
