Planning a trip to spain, any tips?

I want to fly into cadiz, then up the west hand side til I get to Madrid, then across to barcelona, then up to bilbao and home. I also really want to run with the bulls, which I know is somewhere in the north, and starts on the 6th of july. I want to do the whole lot in 2 weeks (I have previously done much more then that in 2 weeks, so time scale isn't a problem) and will be on a very low budget.

If your not sure what your doing you better take lots of £ with you its expensive to just wonder around I did it last year and it cos me a grand for 6weeks and learn some spanish and take a good spainish/english dictionary with you, and don't forget to say
Buenas Dias, gracas, if you try they help, if you dont they wont,
and they think the english are ignorant ( and most are)
Good luck and have a good trip.

Well, Madrid is actually northeast of Cadiz so you'll be moving across. Have plenty of cash on hand as it's still a cash society in smaller areas and markets. Brush up on your basic Spanish, and learn the names of different types or meat so you don't accidentally eat something you'd object to. And stick to bottled water. Going into any new environment can wreck your gastro system.

Buy an atlas and check where Madrid is first i suggest as its certainly not up the west side of Spain. Its practically bang in the middle.

So many kilometers in such little time on a low budget. Travelling is expensive (as it is anywhere).
Cadiz is really nice, and on the way up to Madrid, which is slap in the centre of Spain (ie. NorthEast from Cadiz) you can go via Sevilla and Cordoba, or Caceres if you take the A5 (this way is pretty flat country though).
The South really deserves the whole of your 2 weeks.
Madrid-Barcelona is one straight motorway. There are lots of buses and trains.
You´ll be doing a lot of zig-zagging. If you really want to do Pamplona and San Fermin, why don't you just stay up north and enjoy what's around there instead of trying to fit the lot in?

San Ferms is in my City Pamplona =) the fiesta lasts a week... but you could just come for the Running of the Bulls...

Cadiz > Mérida > Madrid > Barça > Pamplona > Bilbo ?? Do Bilbo last, because it would be eaiser/quicker. I know the trains from Madrid > North are about 50€ and it take's about 4 hours... (That's from Barça to Pamplona or Madrid to Pamplona)

You wanted to visit a city in the West ?? or you could maybe go to Castilla-La Mancha instead of Estremaura ??

http://www.renfe.es/index.html < the site for the trains in Spain, if you can get an AVE train, they are the faster trains 300km/h+ but they'll cost more.

edit... actually Madrid is in the MIDDLE of Iberia... but it is MORE towards the west... (Portugal) than in the middle of Spain... -_- I think you need a map... but you can still travel up the west then across and across and down then up then across
