they've got an underground train system which is the best way of travelling but you don't get to see much. If you go by road there are a lot of traffic lights and jams. It can take ages. |

2 days is not that much to visit a city like Barcelona. Anyway you want to visit the center of it with Passeig de GrĂ cia, with some buildings by GaudĂ and luxurious boutiques, Plaça Catalunya, Las Ramblas and El Barri Gòtic (Old district). If there is one thing you don't want to miss, that is La Sagrada Familia, the big unfinished cathedral by GaudĂ. Other things you can see are museums, like Picasso or Barcelona stadium. Be careful with pick pockets in the center.
About transportation, metro and bus is the best way to move around. You can buy a 10 trip card for 8 euros, which you can share with the pple you are going with. Each trip allows you to travel with as many sorts of transport you may need in 1h 15m
good luck |

For travel get a 10-ride transportation ticket. It's good for metro, buses, local trains and trams. Usually, metro is the most convenient, except for Parc Guell, where the bus is the way to go.
As for what to see, check the answers here:

To be honest with you, for 2 days the best way to get around is the tourist bus. The metro is great (it's 7,20 € for the T-10 which is the card with 10 journeys) as there are no zones (of the main places you'll need to see), only 5 lines, so really easy to navigate BUT you're underground all the time. If you take the tourist bus (26 euros for a 2 day ticket, but you get discounts for everywhere) then you see the whole city overground so get a lot more of an idea of the size of the city, and basically choose what you want to get off and see.
Metro is great depending on how many stops you need to actually get to from where ever you'll be staying, and if you're only bothered about a few tourist sights, but if it's your first time, or you want to squeeze in as much as you can, then I'd go for the tourist bus every time. I'm not usually a tourist bus person (never done the london one or the NYC one for example) but the Barcelona one is just so good. |

You must see GaudĂ's Cathedral of the Sagrada Familia - an amazing piece of architecture. As to the centre of Barcelona, much - like the shopping areas around Las Ramblas - is within a walking distance; I don't recall the cost of public transport which suggests it is not expensive. |

The Metro. It's, like, 1€ per trip, or you can buy a 10 ticket pass for something like 6€, I think?
Definitely the easiest way to get around, just beware of your valuables in any crowded place. Keep purses tucked close to the body, hands in pockets, and valuables inside if possible. |
