Real Madrid?

Where is Real Madrid? Is it a district in Madrid, Spain or is it an older town in Spain, like York in the UK and New York, and Hampshire and New Hampshire?

Real Madrid is a soccer team owned by Royalty hence the name Real=Royal. The team is located out of Madrid hence the second part of the name.

Carousel
and to add to Maria's answer you have Real Betis from Sevilla and Real Sociedad from San Sebastian.

Their stadium is right about in the middle of the city. The new M30 highway tunnel runs right under it.

Ugh, Real Madrid is a futbol team based in Madrid, they play at a stadium called "Bernabeu" or whatever. They also have two "rival" teams. One called "Atletico de Madrid" who are also in Madrid and they are derby rivals and then there is FC Barcelona, which games between Real Madrid and Barcelona are called "el clasico" because they are two very successful Spanish teams, which these games only happen twice a year in La Liga, and the "el clasico" is a thing not surely to be missed.

Maria Fontaneda
"Real Madrid" is not the name of a place or city in Spain. It's just the name of one of the football clubs of Madrid (the most famous one). "Real" means "royal", so it's like "the royal football club of Madrid".

There are other sport clubs in Spain that use the word "Real" (royal), like "Real Sociedad" (San Sebastian's football team), Real Zaragoza (Zaragoza's football team) and Real Murcia (Murcia's football team).

The Real Madrid is a soccer team.
