Christian Spaniards is NOT a religion.
Spain has been almost exclusively CATHOLIC for about 500 years. There have been a few brief periods when it was legal to choose one's religion...and for the past 32 years, it has been legal, but until the death of Franco, it was illegal to be anything BUT Catholic.
I believe that "Christian Spaniards" would describe PEOPLE, not their religion.

Spain was Christianized by the Visigoths, who were believers in the Arian Heresy, that is, that Christ, the son of God, has only a human nature, not a divine one. The Moors conquered Spain in the 9th Century, and held on to part of it until 1493, when Granada fell at the end of the Re-conquest. Ever since, Roman Catholicism has been the state religion of Spain. |
