Every town & village in Spain has their own festival each year. These festivals are known as "Ferias". It is a time for partying, fireworks, eating and drinking. The whole village come out to play, often right through the night.
There are other major events like Semana Santa (Easter) where the whole country is involved.
I live in a typical rural Spanish village. There is never a dull moment during the summer. Late at night during the weekend you can see neighbouring villages with their firework displays.
Here is a link to some of the bigger festivals throughout Spain.

If you come 26th February, or the last week-end in October to Navarra or el PaÃs Vasco =) Then you'll have a good fiesta
San Ferms is a good one in my town, but there are TO many people
Dia de les Illes Balears on 1st March is another good one ;) In Menorca they celebrate with MANY pyrotechnics
but search on the internet for one, and maybe a region you like

they often have moors versus christians.
although, they have stopped in some parts as some muslims find it offensive.
