Should i sell my things so i can afford to go and work abroad for the summer?

I have no money at the moment but want to get away, im only 18, nearly completed my first year at university and really want to go and work in ibiza this summer, ill be leave early may till late september.
Most people ive spoken to about it said they took around £1000 with them, for this me this would be impossible!
So should i sell some of my stuff in order to fund my summer?(wages are terrible ive heard)
also any ibiza worker veterans advice would be welcomed:) and how much you guys have taken out with you in the past
Thank yooou

why dont you just get a student loan. with the money you make, you will be able to pay it off when you get back.

My friend was a podium dancer in ibiza for a couple of years and loved every moment of it. wages arent that bad. they are quite good actually...

if you sell things thats arnt really important to you then you will be able to buy them back when you get home, and if not... then doesnt really matter because its a great experience...

good luck!!!!

You're young, so I'd say go for it. The experience will be much more valuable to you than the possessions you sell to fund it. Go for it and enjoy, might as well when you don't have any other commitments to worry about.

Do not sell things that you are going to need next year! You will get a quarter of their value and will then have to replace them any way. It might be a better idea if you got a job in England this Summer, the resorts here are likely to benefit from the credit crunch with many people choosing to holiday in England so extra staff will be needed a the hotels and resorts whereas their will not be so many jobs as usual abroad as there will not be so many holiday makers. These jobs in England pay minimum wage on the whole but usually provide a room and some food as well or as a part of your wages, if you hate it you can get home easily and at the end of the summer, all being well, you will have more experience in the job and be a more desirable employee when you do go abroad. Ask for references when you leave the job this summer adn take some photographs of yourself..or have a friend take them..at work and chatting to different customers..and next year you will be worth more that a salary you have to subsidise just to live!

Not unless you have a job before you leave.

Unemployment in Spain is higher than almost anyplace else in Europe, if not THE highest. They aren't likely to be hiring a lot of walk-in foreigners, when their own people can't find enough work!

RHS
what sort of stuff are you selling?

miss_blueuk
i would say find a job before you get their holiday rep or something don't sell ur computer but do have a car booty with stuff you don't mind getting rid of try getting an extra job just now and save save and i would say you need more than £1000 i would take that for a 2 wk holiday to ibiza its expensive

Most banks here will be able to fianance much of you're trip, and if you speak to them about taking a sabatical oftern they'll pause the re-payments on your loans for upto two year. this if for Spanish Students wanting to Travel. So I don't understand why a U.K bank wouldn't allow this

Like Jane said, 3 million people un-employed here. You won't find bar work, and not tempoary. job's are the moment are going in clothing stores and food stores

If you don't have a job in the first place ?? Then get one in the U.K and take a vacation here for around a week. Ibiza will be about 250€ all inclusive for a week ??
